FTTH Amsterdam Buitenveldert
From an Outdated Network to Modern Fibre-Optic Infrastructure

Project type
Old installations, unreliable documentation, complex municipal requirements, and demanding permit procedures — Kodar successfully responded to all these challenges, connecting more than 6,000 users to a modern fibre-optic network.
Works in the Buitenveldert urban district were carried out in an environment with outdated utility infrastructure dating back to the 1960s, where the actual on-site conditions often differed from the available documentation. Although the pavements appeared wide at first glance, they were fully occupied by electrical, gas, water, and street lighting installations, making every centimetre of space for new microducts valuable. These circumstances required our team to make constant adjustments, plan precisely, and pay full attention during every excavation.
After the fibre-optic network was installed, our team also carefully met the strict municipal restoration requirements — all surfaces were returned to a better condition than before the start of the works, which in some sections included the complete relaying of paving slabs.
The deployment of fibre optics in Buitenveldert proves that, even in complex urban environments, expertise and precision create space for modern infrastructure solutions.
