132/33 kV Opuyo Substation – Uganda
Training Local Engineers at the Heart of Our Project in Uganda

Our first EPC project on the African continent showed us that infrastructure is important, but people are essential.
At the heart of the project to expand the Opuyo 132 kV substation in Uganda, whose capacity we doubled by adding a new transformer, the key role was played by the local population. Funded by KfW, the project aimed to educate local experts, laying the foundation for further development of the country’s energy sector.
Through hands-on work and professionally guided training of Ugandan engineers, we created a workforce ready to build future energy facilities in Uganda. In this way, the community not only received a new substation but also gained knowledge and skills that will remain long after the work is completed.
We are proud of the results achieved – improved infrastructure in Uganda and the knowledge we have shared, which will support future energy projects and contribute to the country’s sustainable development
