Successful Completion of Works: Kodar Commissions the 400 kV Lastva–Pljevlja Transmission Line Featuring the Innovative AAAC “Aster 366” Conductor

The commissioning of the 400 kV Lastva–Pljevlja transmission line has successfully brought one of Montenegro’s most significant power infrastructure projects to completion. Throughout the project, Kodar successfully addressed complex engineering and on-site challenges, completing all planned works and enabling the system to safely enter trial operation.

A key feature of the project was the execution of works on its most demanding section, which was rerouted away from populated areas and the environmentally sensitive zones of Durmitor National Park. Along this route, the advanced all-aluminium alloy conductor AAAC “Aster 366” was installed for the first time in the region, replacing a conventional conductor solution. This technology provides greater energy efficiency while significantly reducing power losses and noise caused by the so-called corona effect. As a result, its impact on local flora and fauna is minimised, helping to preserve the natural environment of the protected area.

The official commissioning of the transmission line has established a robust 400 kV connection between northern and southern Montenegro for the first time, significantly improving the security and reliability of the country’s electricity supply. We are proud that Kodar successfully delivered the works on this technologically advanced solution, creating a vital link in the Trans-Balkan electricity corridor connecting Montenegro with Italy and the wider region.
