Electrical power connection for the wind farm on Crni Vrh

At an altitude of 800 m, we built a 150 MW connection and a 17 km transmission line.

Investor: Crni Vrh Power d.o.o.
Country: Republic of Serbia

A new chapter in the history of renewable energy sources was opened at the altitude of more than 800 meters anove sea level, in the heart of the dense terrain of the Crni Vrh mountain, between Žagubica and Bor. In this harsh but fascinating area, our team at Kodar Energomontaža was laying foundations for the power connection of a 150MW wind farm – an infrastructure undertaking which will be able to supply more than 100,000 households with clean, renewable energy.

A new challenge lay ahead of us: creating a completely new plateau for the future transformer substation and connection switchgear facility, while preserving the natural environment. The key question was – how to deliver the required amount of rock material of adequate quality for the construction of the plateau?

We decided to test the quality of the rock material found on site, hoping to avoid the need to transport material from distant quarries. We anxiously awaited the test results.

The news was good. Relevant tests confirmed that the rock material from the excavation performed for the execution of foundations for wind turbines met all strict requirements. We went into action. Four powerful stone crushing plants were transported to the site, turning more than 50,000 m³ of rock material into a solid foundation. Every cubic meter of material was placed with precision, while snow, ice and low temperatures made the work even more difficult at every step of the way.

And then, the next chapter opened through highly inaccessible terrain, between valleys and steep slopes – the installation of a 17 km long 110kV transmission line. We were now facing logistical challenges – how to transport and install steel pole structures? Traditional methods simply were not enough.

Innovative solutions took over the main role. We reached for a drone, whose accuracy ensured safe laying of conductors where conventional machines and the manpower  failed.

This project is not only a technical achievement completed in just nine months – it is a symbol of a new era in energy sector, where technology and nature merge to create a sustainable future.
