110 kV Underground Cable Line TS Belgrade 1 – TS Belgrade 6

In the city center of Belgrade, we replaced an aging 4.35 km long oil-filled cable that had been in reliable operation for more than 50 years, supplying one of the city’s key transformer substations.
To carry out the works along some of the busiest urban traffic routes, the project was implemented step by step. Construction sections of approximately 50 meters were opened—long enough to ensure continuous progress, yet short enough to allow normal traffic flow. Within each section, special ducts were installed and the terrain was fully restored to its original condition before opening the next segment.
Only after completing the duct installation did we apply the new technology: cable installation using the WatuCab system. The cable was pulled into the pre-installed ducts by means of pressurized water. This approach enabled all major works to be performed below ground level, while the city continued to function without disruption.
Through this project, we significantly increased the safety and reliability of the electricity supply to central Belgrade and the Karaburma district, while preserving green areas and the urban environment.
We are proud to be among the first in the world to apply this technology, demonstrating that large-scale infrastructure projects can be executed with minimal impact on everyday city life.
