First smart solar power plant in Serbia commissioned in Doljevac

SPP Doljevac is the first smart solar power plant which provides energy for more than 3,300 households

Solar power plant “Doljevac” is officially commissioned and, as of today, it supplies electricity to more than 3,300 households in Serbia. This is a technologically advanced 10 MW plant which completely fits into the smart grid system concept. Thanks to the integrated controller, the distribution system operator can manage its operation in real time, which means that the power plant can be switched on, switched off or adapted to the grid requirements accordingly. This ensures stability and security of the power system, especially in circumstances of variable consumption and production.

The latest bifacial monocrystalline panels, capacity 700W have been installed within this power plant, which enable additional use of reflected sunlight thanks to double-sided photovoltaic conversion.

The Installation of bifacial panels enables achieving a significantly higher level of production efficiency compared to standard solutions. This type of panels also uses ground-reflected radiation, which further increases the total generation of electricity” said the chief site engineer, Risto Zlatkov.

Behind this project there is a team of experts who completed the entire construction – from the excavation and cable laying, including the installation of 84 inverters, and connection to the distribution system – in less than four months. The power plant covers an area of 12 hectares, located between the villages of Čečina and Kočane in the municipality of Doljevac, a region with exceptional solar potential in southeastern Serbia.

The solar power plant Doljevac is much more than just a renewable energy source – it is an example of how careful engineering, efficient organization and new technologies build the energy future of Serbia together.
